You may hear that many people on internet are talking about Freelancing. Many professional and skilled persons are becoming freelancers. You can work from home without any pressure of Boss. This industry is totally different than any other job. No compulsion of time, you can choose on which project you want to work or not etc. Means total freedom!

As a use of graphics is increased in every field, Illustrations and graphic design field is becoming one of the most popular freelancing branch.

If you are in the field of illustration and graphic design, and if you want to take freelance work or projects, then you should make yourself ready from now. According to most independent artists and designers who are freelancers, ‘independent artist designer should have a passion dedicated to hard work, and customers, as well.’

If you are a full-time illustrator and graphic designer and planning to become a freelancer, here are some considerations you may want to consider before you dive into the world of freelancing.

Things to consider before entering in the world of freelancing:

1. Identify and set goals. As in any job, to become an independent designer or illustrator will need to identify and define their goals before finally jumping on the new structure. Becoming a freelance artist eats a lot of time, especially if you’re just starting out.

2. First you have to decide your business plan. Its one of the fundamental things because it will help you to decide what types of jobs you are going to accept and other aspects of you freelancing.

3. How much money are you going to demand? You have to decide that how you are going to charge like by the type of projects? Size? Timing? etc.

4. Freelancing requires so much time because you are only one who is going to talk to your new clients, advertising, receptionist, replying mails and all. You are only one to do all these.

5. Becoming freelancer means that you should have enough understanding, experience, discipline and knowledge in the area you are in. If you think you fit in these circumstances then success is waiting on your door step.

6. Check the business acumen. Know the different methods of doing business and know how to do business, without a doubt help you become a successful freelance illustrator or graphic designer.

7. Test your powers of decision-making. Decision-making is a very important aspect to be yourself. If you’re really planning to go independent, you must have a heart and mind to make a decision. Since you’ll be doing a lot of the final decision, you should start learning to decide wisely today.

8. Making one good website for you is also must. Professional website is a place where your new clients are going to arrive at first time. A good website with your basic information, pricing and portfolio is excellent way to show what you have done in past and what you offer.

9. Final step, check your overall attitude to move to new working conditions. Before finally jumping on a freelance, you should ask how to handle stress, possible rejection and competition.
